The AOC appellations Fronsac and Canon-Fronsac have completely transformed their grape composition. In 1900, this vineyard in the Libournais region was dominated by Malbec. Today, this grape, which is very sensitive to frost, has significantly declined to represent barely 1% of the total, while Merlot has increased from 20% to 75%. Canon-Fronsac, alongside Fronsac, is one of the most interesting communal appellations in Bordeaux. Famous in the 18th century before falling somewhat into obscurity, these wines are experiencing a resurgence in popularity while maintaining attractive prices.
