Racy and deeply rooted in its terroir, this Les Aubues cuvée proudly embodies the identity of the Puligny-Montrachet region: vertical, elegantly floral, with a constant tension and bright citrus vivacity, it remains dense and indulgent in this magnificent vintage, rich and vibrant.

This Puligny Les Aubues is surrounded by prestigious neighbors, starting with the famous Grand Cru Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet, located just a short distance to the northwest, with which it shares the same brown limestone substrate. However, situated slightly below, the soil here is a bit denser in clay. These clay soils played a crucial role in 2019, preventing any water stress for the vines during a dry and hot early summer, ultimately contributing to the wine's mouthfeel density.

Another key factor lies in the careful work on the soils and the mastery of yields, encouraging the vines to draw from the limestone subsoils for the mineral intensity and verticality we love! The regular biodynamic care significantly contributes to this.

In the end, the Bachelet brothers have successfully found and expressed the perfect balance between the fleshy volume of the fruit and mineral verticality. After an initial subtly smoky nose, we delight in sensual notes of pear juice, peach, passion fruit, acacia honey, hazelnut shards, and warm bread. The more it aerates, the more the wine becomes ethereal and floral, now evoking lime blossom and fruit tree flowers, with hints of eucalyptus, licorice, and citrus zest, including orange and grapefruit.

At the start on the palate, we appreciate the refined delicacy typical of Puligny, with its zesty lemony notes and subtle smoky nuances. Of course, the considerable fruit volume characteristic of the vintage is present, structured around indulgent flavors of white and yellow fruit cream. As it progresses on the palate, the wine unveils its intense mineral imprint, tight and particularly salivating.

It’s hard to believe that this is merely a "simple" Puligny Village: it truly possesses all the attributes of a top-tier Premier Cru and serves as a superb introduction for those eager to be guided by the refined and profound charm of the great chardonnays from this star Burgundy appellation. One piece of advice, however: wait five years in the cellar; it will only get better!
