Listrac, the youngest of the Médoc communal appellations, is situated on an ancient gravel plateau, inland and further from the estuary, similar to Moulis. Although it lacks classified growths, it boasts notable estates like Château Clarke and a significant number of crus bourgeois. The cooperative wines from Listrac gained fame as part of the legendary "Trains Bleus" story, featuring on the wine list of the International Sleeping Car Company and enhancing the appellation's reputation. Listrac wines are known for their power and vigor, sometimes a bit harsh in youth, but many producers are now focusing on finesse and elegance.
